Your NeST needs to be configured with a sport and scoreboard to send the correct data. Click below to get the steps to configure your NeST:
Download the Scorebird Admin app
Download the mobile app using the above links
Login or Sign Up in the app
Go to "Settings" (click the gear icon at the bottom)
Click on "Devices" and find the device you are installing by the assigned 5-digit NeST serial number
In the app, click “Change Sport/Scoreboard” to configure your NeST
Connect Scorebird and Controller
Plug the Scorebird NeST into power
Plug the cable between the NeST and your Scoreboard Controller
If you are using Ethernet, plug in the Ethernet cable
Turn on the NeST
It will start with "Loading"
"Trying Connections"
"Online"
The 3 steps will take about 1-2 minutes
Setup Internet Connection
Ethernet - Plug in Ethernet before powering on Scorebird, otherwise you may need to turn it off and wait about 15 seconds as the NeST shuts down and the power comes back on. You will see an "E" when the NeST goes online.
WiFi - In the mobile app, click on the device you are installing and then click "WiFi Settings". In order to enter your WiFi credentials, your NeST needs to be online via an Ethernet or Cellular connection. Once Online, you can enter your WiFi credentials, and the NeST will reboot after you save them. You should see a "W" on the NeST screen once connected to WiFi. If the NeST is still connected to Ethernet, unplug the Ethernet cable and try recycling the power again.
Cellular - Not recommended if using data for streaming. If you are unable to connect via Ethernet nor WiFi, the NeST will attempt to connect to cellular. Cellular will likely not work indoors. Cellular was added to help you setup on WiFi. Expect delays in data and there is the possibility the NeST is unable to connect via cellular. If it does connect, you will see a "C" on the NeST's screen. If Ethernet nor Wi-Fi seem to work, you may need to get IT involved to approve our NeST onto your network. In the next section, you’ll see how to capture the MAC Address that may needed by IT.
Test the NeST in the Admin App
Locate your device in the app, click “Test NeST", choose a Sport and click "Submit". A virtual Scoreboard will appear displaying data that has been entered in the controller. NOTE: the NeST only gets data when the data changes. If data doesn’t match the scoreboard, enter new data into the scoreboard controller.
Do not click the "Swap Home/Away" data toggle unless the data for Home and Away seem backwards.
Turn on the Scoreboard Controller
When the NeST is online, enter different score values for Home and Away
Enter a clock value and start the clock
You should see this data in the app and the clock and score should appear on the NeST screen
If home and away are backwards, please contact Scorebird at support@scorebird.com
We recommend the use of Ethernet or WiFi with the NeST. If using Ethernet, plug an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port. If using WiFi, use the Scorebird for Admins mobile app (see links above). In order to use WiFi, the NeST must be Online via Ethernet or Cellular. If you do not have Ethernet or WiFi, we can use the built-in cell chip to connect to a cellular tower.
Important NOTE: To use Ethernet or WiFi, you will most likely have to provide your IT department the Mac Address to gain access to the network. The Mac Address information is below. Using the NeST # for your device, you can easily build your Mac Address information.
Please login to the Scorebird Customer web portal or the Scorebird Admin mobile app to find the MAC Address for your device.
